Healing Inner and Outer Systems
Systems parallel each other. Healing on one level ripples both upward and downward.

I had a few sessions last week that really inspired me, and reminded me of the truth that if we hope to heal the outer systems, we have to heal our inner systems first.
Internal Family Systems is based on systems theory, and one of the key insights I’ve learned is that systems parallel one another.
A person’s internal psychological system parallels their family system.
A family system parallels the culture it’s embedded in.
A cultural system parallels the particular country and era its embedded in.
Changes to a system at one level affect systems above and below it.
I’ve intellectually understood this for a while now, but as I continue to do my work with clients, I’ve actually begun to see the domino effect that healing can have. Just like helping one psychological “part” inside of one person can help the whole inner system, I’ve seen how helping one person can help their whole family, and even their whole organization. - and that ripples outward to the families of those people, too.
It is incredibly humbling and hope-inspiring for me to see and feel that even though we may have a relatively small influence, our healing and love really does ripple outward through the lives of those we touch.
And this emphasis on love is not surface-level sweetness to cover up more “serious” economic, political, or sociological mechanics. On the contrary, love is the essential medicine by which human systems—internal, familial, or societal, civilizational—change for the better.
The only ways I have seen my clients heal is when both I—and they—engage with deep pain and wounds from a place of openness and love. Everything else leads to more tangles. More knots. More “karma,” or doing.
Love in this sense is undoing.
The more individuals are able to heal their own wounds and become Self-led (lead by their core Self instead of hurt or underequipped parts of us) the more the higher-level systems of this world will be able to shift and change.
This isn’t magic, it’s the essence of all human societies.
Whether we’re trying to create a new relationship, a new family, a new business, or a new economic or political system, if we don’t heal our internal system, we will perpetuate the same cycles of pain and suffering in any external system we engage in.
Luckily, there is a way forward both for individual and collective healing.
And every day I work, I see the path more clearly.
Healing Starts With Us
I want to help as many people as possible in my lifetime. And that means offering my work in a way that’s accessible for others and also sustainable for myself.
Because not everyone can afford quality personal help, I’ve decided to start offering my work on an honor-based payment pricing system with three tiers:
Regular Price – $100 -199 / session: (3 slots available) This tier allows me to support myself through my work.
Pay What You Can – $1 - 99 / session: (2 slots available) Reserved for those who are in need of help but truly can’t afford my regular price point.
Supporter - $200 - $300 / session: (2 slots available) For every Supporter that signs on for regular sessions, I open one Pay What You Can slot.
If you’re interested in working with me, reply to this email with a brief description of what you’re struggling with and when you’d be available for a consult.
If you’d like to support “Pay what you can” clients, you can do so by donating here:
Warmly,
Daniel
